The Ernest J. Gaines Literary Award.The Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence (sponsored by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation) recognizes outstanding fiction writing by a promising and talented creative fiction writer. The first-place winner is awarded a $10,000 cash prize and is invited to read his award-winning work at a public awards ceremony. The Prize also covers expenses for travel, housing and meals.
